A Conversation with Good Medicine Beauty Lab Co-founders

We virtually sat down with Karen and Whitney, co-Founder of Good Medicine Beauty Lab and talked all things Skincare, their legacy brand and Rejoice. We hope you enjoy our conversation as much as we did. 

Hi ladies, it is such a pleasure to be with you today. To kick things off, can you tell us more about your background and how did you start with your brand?

Good Medicine is a multi generational business that has been passed down through 3 generations of women in my family. Karen and I started about 20+ years ago, and instantly fell in love. Over the last couple decades we have been fully immersed in the knowledge of creating these products, the ingredients behind these beautiful formulations and have learned everything through experience.

Can you share more about your brand mission. For those who may not be familiar with the brand yet, what can you tell us about your ethos?

We want to provide the best quality clean skincare products, using sustainably sourced ingredients, to help nourish not only peoples skin, but nourish their souls through self care. Our ethos is to always create the best products possible, never compromising on the quality of ingredients used in our formulas. We hold a conscious responsibility to never do unnecessary harm to our planet. We will always practice ethical sourcing an manufacturing.

What is/are the products from your line that you always carry with you?

This is a hard question because we would carry them all around with us every where we go, and love every creation so much, but we can narrow it down to the essentials that we use morning and night.

Can you share more about the product featured in the Ambrosia box?

Starry Eyes is a great product for those that are looking to reduce puffiness, dark circles, and reduce or prevent fine lines and wrinkles. It contains blue algae a powerful peptides that will help reduce fine lines and wrinkles, increase collagen production, and smooth out uneven skin. It also contains beautiful essential oils and butters that will nourish the skin to help keep its elasticity.

What is your inspiration and creative process when you come up with new products?

Our beautiful desert home is full of inspiring elements. This is why we include herbs that are indigenous to our area, and is what makes our products so unique. When coming up with a new product we simply think about what it is that we would like for our very own skin and want to share with others. We are everyday women, and realize if we have certain needs for our skin, then most likely other women feel the same. We know how important it is to have skincare that is not only natural, but works.

The theme of our Spring box is Rejoice – How do you Rejoice in your daily life?

We rejoice every single day we get to come to work. This is a labor of love, and we are passionate about it, and feel over joyed that we get to do the thing we love.

Do you have any wellness rituals you would like to share with us?

Whitney’s favorite wellness ritual is putting on a face mask at night and reading a chapter in her book. The feel and smell helps me settle down for the night.

Karen’s favorite wellness ritual is her night time routine of lighting a candle, taking a hot bath, and then applying one of our lovely body oils right after. The aroma helps relax the mind, and calm the body.

What small habit makes you feel good?

Spritzing Breeze periodically throughout the day makes us feel good. Taking our dogs on hikes, and working our gardens.

What is next for your brand? What are you working on?

We would like to expand our products in to the global market. Everyone around the world would benefit from he healing properties of the desert.
