A Conversation with Scentsational Journeys Founder

We virtually sat down with Sarah Torrance, Founder of Scentsational Journeys and talked all things beauty, honey and Wonder. 

We hope you enjoy our conversation as much as we did. 

Hi Sarah, so nice to chat with you today! To kick things off, can you tell us more about your background and how did you start with your brand? 

We started out making our own glycerin soap at home to help relieve my son’s eczema, which ultimately led me to discover the various benefits and healing properties of natural ingredients such as honey, bee pollen, and more. As a result, Scentsational Journeys was born—and to this day, our products continue to positively impact people all over the world.

Can you share more about your brand mission. For those who may not be familiar with the brand yet, what can you tell us about your ethos? 

Scentsational Journeys was founded 14 years ago in 2008. We wanted people to follow us on a journey of scents and well-being, just like a honeybee follows the journey from flower to hive to honey. We create all-natural and organic skin-loving and healing products “fresh from Florida” using pure Florida honey, beeswax, bee pollen, royal jelly, propolis, organic Florida cane sugar, and Florida citrus essential oils. Our motto is, “Let your skin feel the difference.”

What is/are the products from your line that you always carry with you? 

The products that I carry always in my purse is our propolis healing salve, honey & bee propolis lip balm and my sweet orange honey 2 oz body butter. 

Can you share more about the product featured in the Ambrosia box? 

We created our sweet orange honey sugar scrub because exfoliation is an essential step in taking care of your skin and is especially great during dry winter months. Sugar scrubs work to exfoliate the skin, removing dead skin cells while leaving your skin feeling soft and healthy. Our sugar scrubs are unique because they turn into a light lotion when used with water. 

What is your inspiration and creative process when you come up with new products? 

When we come up with a new product we always have our clientele in mind.

Our company was derived by the need for a product that would soothe the irritations and inflammations of skin caused by eczema and psoriasis—without harsh chemicals such as sls, parabens, and phthalates. I was inspired to create such products for my son who has eczema, to help keep it at bay. 

Our HoneyBee Naturals Collection takes full advantage of the natural healing properties of honey, bee pollen, beeswax, royal jelly, and propolis to restore skin’s natural glow. Our hero product in our entire collection would be our Propolis Healing Salve. It’s called the “cure all” or the “miracle salve” by our customers as it helps with skin irritations and inflammations. 

The theme of our first box is Wonder – a feeling that we too often neglect in our busy lives. It encourages our desire to explore. When we selected the products featured in this limited edition box, we felt particularly inspired by the multi-sensory journey that each product provided. How do you feel the product exude this sense of Wonder? 

When we were asked to be a part of Ambrosia Box inaugural box and the theme of the first box being Wonder we knew our sweet orange honey sugar scrub would be the perfect choice. 

A gently exfoliating and nourishing scrub that is so unique that it turns into a light lotion when used with water. What does Wonder mean to you? 

I find Wonder in small moments such as enjoying sunsets, birds chirping, dolphins jumping, flowers blooming, majestic waterfalls, ocean waves crashing. 

It’s my sense of acknowledging our “wonder-ful” creator, God. It’s my time to breathe, pause and reflect. Find joy in the simple things. Since beating colon cancer this past two years during the pandemic, it’s given me more time to reflect on Wonder.

What sparks Wonder in your life? 

Also, what sparks wonder in my life is doing what I love to do. Creating beauty products and sharing them with others so that they will help us gain more recognition to those concerned about using all-natural and organic products on their skin.

What is next for your brand? What are you working on at the moment? 

As we move forward with our business we want to thank our spa partners, customers and Ambrosia for all the love and support. Thank you for continuing to help us grow!
