An Interview with Baiobay Founder

We virtually sat down with Margoux, Founder of Baiobay and talked all things Skincare, her brand and tips on how to Shine. We hope you enjoy our conversation as much as we did. 

To kick things off, can you tell us more about your background and how did you start with your brand? 

I began working on Baiobay at the age of 25, shortly after graduating from Business School with a Masters in Entrepreneurship. My fascination with the beauty industry led me to the idea of creating a clean skincare brand, using only the cleanest ingredients. I was driven by the desire to establish a trustworthy brand that prioritized eco-friendly packaging solutions, while also ensuring the effectiveness and the textures of the products to make it feel great to go green. 

Can you share more about your brand mission. For those who may not be familiar with the brand yet, what can you tell us about your ethos?

Our mission is to create skin, body, and hair care products that are clean and environmentally friendly. We strive to provide you with irresistible textures in packaging that’s kind to the planet. We want to be a brand you can rely on, which is why all of our formulations are certified organic and natural. Every ingredient we use is clean and safe, as evidenced by our perfect Yuka rating of 100/100 for all our products. As a 100% vegan brand, we are committed to making a positive impact. For every Baiobay product you purchase, we also plant a tree.

What is/are the products from your line that you always carry with you?

Choosing just two products  is such a tough question. However, if I had to pick, it would have to be the Hydrating Gel-Cream with its dreamy water-cream texture that I adore, and the Nourishing Hair Mask that works wonders on my hair. Oh, and let’s not forget about my trusty Baiobay Lip Balms that I always carry with me wherever I go.

Can you share more about the product featured in the Ambrosia box?

This is another favorite — the Exfoliating Scrub is an all-natural mechanical exfoliating treatment that contains fine Bamboo Stem Extract to remove the dead skin cells and reveal a soft, smooth and glowing skin. It’s gentle on the skin and turns into a milk when in contact with water, making it easier to rinse off. You can use it on both Face & Lips !

What is your inspiration and creative process when you come up with new products?

Creating new products for Baiobay is one of my favorite things to work on : figuring out how we can improve the experience of a product, its efficience, texture, design… It’s a creative process I truly enjoy. Traveling the world has always been an inspiration for both ingredients and our pastel-colored designs. We also always try to adapt to what our clients want : due to popular demand for the Body Care line, we decided to launch it earlier than originally planned.

The theme of our summer box is Shine – What makes you Shine? 

Happiness, feeling fulfilled, spending time with loved ones, and exploring the world all make me shine. Plus, using the Face & Lips Exfoliating Scrub adds that extra touch!

What is your favorite wellness ritual?

I do believe skin comes first so I always do my skincare routine : both Face & Body. I workout daily and I like to spend some time in a sauna whenever I get the chance.  I became vegan a few years ago so that helps in eating a lot of fruits and veggies on a daily basis. Last but not least: I’ve been a lot more focused on my water intake lately, it makes such a difference.

What small habit makes you feel good?

Waking up early and getting a ‘good start’ of my day is quite crucial for me. Figuring out what works for you as a morning routine can really help with this while also keeping the goals reachable. I also like to do a workout every day : a bootcamp, boxing or a yoga session, usually with a friend. Moving my body after a long day at the office always makes me feel so good. 

What is next for your brand? What are you working on at the moment?

So I can’t reveal too much about this just yet but we have some exciting new launches coming up in the next few months. I can’t wait to share more about this and hope you will like them!
