Sipping Tea with Moontime Tea Founder
We had the pleasure to interview Kathryn Flynn, Founder of Moontime Tea and learn more about her amazing brand, inspiration and future plans.
We hope you enjoy our conversation as much as we did.
Hi Kathryn, I am so excited to be chatting with you today. To kick things off, can you tell us more about your background and how did you start with your brand?
I have been working with women in nutrition consultations for fertility, pregnancy, and healthy hormones since 2005. I started Fertile Foods and Moontime tea to serve this group and added products that my clients were looking for including the Cooking for Fertility Cookbook and the fertility tea.
Can you share more about your brand mission. For those who may not be familiar with the brand yet, what can you tell us about your ethos?
Moontime tea is all about reconnecting with nature’s rhythm and the healing flow of life. Modern living has placed demands on women that are unnatural to the ways our bodies were designed to create. Each Moontime Tea blend is created to support hormonal balance, ease and flow at specific phases in a woman’s life.
What is/are the products from your line that you always carry with you?
Lately, I always have a pouch of the whole health anti-inflammatory blend because turmeric and ginger are perfect for supporting immunity and gut health. I also have fertility tea every night before bed because not only is it good for reproductive health but it’s also amazing for supporting the adrenals and lowering the stress response.
Can you share more about the product featured in the Ambrosia box?
The metabolism tea is our newest blend based on my favorite topic: blood sugar balance. Whether I am talking with women about healthy hormones or fertility everybody wants to feel a little lighter, more energetic and uplifted. This combination of herbs in Moontime tea’s metabolism tea is specifically created for blood sugar regulation from the delicious tulsi, green tea combination with the sweet notes of hibiscus and cinnamon.
What is your inspiration and creative process when you come up with new products?
Baking and blending new teas are my most favorite hobbies. I’m trained in the healing benefits of foods so often my inspiration will come from a specific ingredient and then grows into a combination. I will trial multiple versions of the blend until it is perfected (often judged by my bestie and husband who are not shy to tell me the truth.)
The theme of our winter box is Flourish – What makes you Flourish?
Quiet– I love the winter months for the stillness. I am from Canada so the seasons speak to me and the winter is often about internal and slowing down– which we all need. Tea first thing in the morning with the sunlight coming in the window, a walk in the forest, restorative yoga, and a warm bath. We all need down time to fill up!
What is your favorite wellness ritual?
alt water soaks- whether in the ocean or in a bath with my favorite forest bathing salt soak. Water is deeply calming and regenerating. The salts are full of magnesium for relaxation. It’s a perfect way to detoxify the day and replenish at the same time. Favorite tea with my salts soaks is the fertility tea which is also great for anyone suffering from burnout, needing to support their adrenals.
What small habit makes you feel good?
Hearing my kids’ laughter, watching my 8 year old make her own tincture line, tea with friends, walks in the forest with my puppy, salt soaks, cooking by candle light, yoga and meditation.
What is next for your brand? What are you working on?
Moontime tea has 13 blends total and some wonderful adaptogen lattes I have been testing to bring to market. Later this year, Fertile Foods will be introducing a new high end product line featuring new loose leaf blends and our favorite lifestyle products for the modern cosmopolitan woman to combine ritual and beauty for her special occasions with friends and family. I am also offering digital courses for fertility support and may open back up some group coaching opportunities later in the year.
